David A. Wren

David A. Wren, 82, passed away Friday, January 9, 2015, at Baptist Health Corbin.

Born September 5, 1932, in Lily, KY, he was the son of the late Andy and Bertha Wren.   A U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Korean Conflict.  He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren; five sisters: Florence White, Ruth Westerfield, Marie Brock, Edna Wren, and Lucy Wren; and three brothers: Henry Wren, Earl Wren, and Ed Wren.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Betty; four children: Barbara Wren of Fowlerville, Michigan, Sherri Wren of Corbin, Michael Wren of Dearborn, Michigan, and Ralph Wren of Redford, Michigan; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and two loving sisters: Betty Owens of Michigan, and Lucille Helton of Maryland, as well as several nieces and nephews, and numerous friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 13, 2015, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Shackleford and Bro. Bob Goodin officiating.  Burial will follow in McHargue Cemetery at Lily with military rites conducted by the D.A.V. Chapter 158.  Serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth Wren, Dallas Wren, Brandon Cowden, Derek Cowden, Hank Westerfield, and Justin Cowden.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 P.M. Monday at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.

    Uncle David will be missed very much. I will always have fond childhood memories in my heart.

    Dear Aunt Betty,
    I loved Uncle David dearly & you too. I saw Uncle David at the store a few times and would always ask for a hug. He was one of a kind.
