Sylsie Rose Reeves
March 23, 1932 - April 17, 2016Sylsie Rose Reeves, 84, of Corbin passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Corbin Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born March 23, 1932, in Leslie County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late James and Lydia Bailey Rose.
In addition to her father and mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Reeves; four children: Ramona, Vivian, J.C. and Archie Shelton; two sisters in their youth: Ossie and Edna; three additional sisters: Cordia Moore, Cecie Ridner, and Rhea McCormick; one brother: George Rose; and one step-daughter: Shirley Collum.
She is survived by one daughter: Loretta McKenzie of Corbin; four step-children: Cecil Reeves, Jr. and wife Linda of Florence, KY, Ronnie Reeves and wife Norma of Corbin, Billy Reeves and wife Martha of Corbin, and Linda Henderson and husband Kenny of Corbin; a grandson that she raised who was like a son to her: Donnie Wright and wife Katrina of Rockholds; one special great-great granddaughter: Skyler Danielle Wright of Louisville, KY; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; one brother: Olan Rose and wife Rosa Lee of Middletown, OH; and one sister: Ila Beichler of Dayton, OH, as well as other relatives and numerous friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 21, 2016, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ryan McCully officiating. Burial will follow in Young Cemetery in Corbin with grandsons and nephews serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 9:00 P.M. Wednesday at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
