James Clark “Pug” Walters, 74, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away Monday, February 2, 2026, at his home.  He was born in Harlan County, Kentucky, on July 6, 1951, to Ambers and Betty Walters.

James was a diesel mechanic for most of his working life and later transferred that interest and skill level to building motors for race cars.  He enjoyed drag racing, especially, and also found pleasure in flea markets and yard sales.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Walters; his father, Ambers Walters; sister, Sue Bolton; two brothers: Jerry Walters and Leland Walters; and a great-grandson, James Scott Walters.

He leaves behind his mother, Betty Pennington; son, Jimmy Walters; daughter, Sabrina Burke and husband Donnie; daughter, Tonia Couch and husband Alvin; daughter, Donna Alsip; grandchildren: Eric Stewart and wife Kim, William Stewart and wife Andrea, Bradley Walters, Miranda Alsip, Tasha Smith, Alexandra Vaughn and husband Jason, and Breanna Stewart; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Bonnie Begley and Betty Jean Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 5, 2026, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Delmon Sizemore officiating.  Burial will follow at McFarland Cemetery in Corbin, Kentucky.

The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 P.M. Thursday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
