Karen Jean Prater, 58, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2026.
Karen worked as a Peer Support Specialist at Cumberland Behavioral Health Center and often attended Poplar Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children: James (Amanda) Anger of Corbin, Kentucky, Keith Lee Stanley, Jr. (Ashley) of Richmond, Kentucky, Heather (Kasey) Poff of Corbin, Kentucky, Liberty Britton (William) of Corbin, Kentucky, and Tabitha Nichols of Corbin, Kentucky. She was a loving grandmother to Raelyn and McKenzie Lay of Monroe, Michigan, Bentley Thomas of Corbin, Kentucky, Erica Anger of Corbin, Kentucky, Connor, Stiles, and Oliver Poff of Corbin, Kentucky, Aden Brown and Kimber Stanley of Richmond, Kentucky, and Baylor Fox of Corbin, Kentucky. She is also survived by her half-sister, Yvonne Welte of Walton, Michigan, and her nieces and nephew, Melissa Perry Kohne, Falisha Perry, and Joshua Perry.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Linda Ann Perry Cooper and David Richard Perry, Sr.; her brother, David Richard Perry, Jr.; and her grandparents, Matilda and Harvey Higgins, and Lavern and Margaret Perry.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 15, 2026, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Burial will follow at Campbell Cemetery. Honoring her as pallbearers will be James, Keith, Aden, Frank, Kasey, Bentley, and Toby.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. Monday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
