Susan Cecelia Waterhouse

November 1, 1944 - August 18, 2024

Susan Cecelia Waterhouse, 79, passed away peacefully at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, on Sunday, August 18, 2024.  Born November 1, 1944, in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania,  she was the daughter of the late Graydon and Ruhamah Fisher.

In addition to her father and mother, Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Waterhouse; brother, Charlie Fisher, and step-grandchild, Annmarie Gentile.

Susan was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, nurse, and friend. She had a deep passion for music, cherished the magic of Christmas, and found immense joy in painting, crafting, and sewing. A regular at the vendor’s mall, she always found a bargain and made new friends.  Her family’s biggest cheerleader, she was often seen in KY blue or Liberty red and never missed a family event.

Throughout her 50-year nursing career, Sue worked at various hospitals, private offices, Kaiser Permanente, and concluded her career at Baptist Hospital in Corbin. She held roles as a floor nurse, advice nurse, diabetes and allergy nurse, and team manager.

Sue had a talent for making friends wherever she went and delighted in giving hand-painted and unique, practical gifts. She stayed in touch with her nursing colleagues, high school friends, and family, always cherishing those connections.

Susan leaves behind her daughter Julie Hill and husband Tim Hill; son, Raymond Andrew Waterhouse; step-daughter, Jeannie Wall and husband Geoff Wall; grandchildren: Jalyn Mason and husband Kelly Mason, Trevor Hill and wife Dr. Madeline Hill, and Jessica Rode and husband Kyle Rode; great-grandchildren: Colt and Cami Jo Mason; brother John Fisher and wife Linda Fisher; sister-in-law, Carol Fisher; step-grandchildren: Niccole Gould Scott and Michael Wall; and a special relationship, Lindsey Barton Herrin.  She is also survived by other relatives and many friends.

Susan was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, August 22, 2024, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Michael Johnson officiating.  Entombment will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Lily, Kentucky.  Serving as pallbearers will be Trevor Hill, Kelly Mason, Mark Hill, Mike Barton, Bart Herrin, and Shane Foley.

The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour at 1 P.M. Thursday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street Corbin, KY 40701.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations made to the Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter 606-526-6925.

    My lovely neighbor. Was always ready for her next insightful or totally crazy question. Her last request, before she went to hospital, was to request I cut the front third of my tree off so she could improve her view. We’ll miss you, my sweet lady.

    Sue was always up.for a chat at the family gatherings. I sure enjoyed our visits. She was so proud of her family and those grand babies were so loved by her. She will be missed by many who knew and loved her. My prayers and condolences to all her family and friends. Rest in peace Sue….❤️❤️
