John Patterson, Jr.

September 15, 1939 - October 29, 2024

John Patterson, Jr., 85, of Corbin passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2024.  Born September 15, 1939, he was the son of the late Boyd and Florance Patterson.

In addition to his father and mother, John was preceded in death by three brothers: David Patterson, Luther Patterson, and Billy Patterson; and two sisters: Reesa Patterson and Delora Patterson.

John is survived by his loving wife, Marcia Patterson; three daughters: Pamela Stewart, Loretta Smith, and Joanna Renie; two brothers: James Patterson (Roena) and Buster Patterson (Brenda); two sisters: Druscilla Lemmer and Carolyn Robinson (Everett); six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

John was a United States Army veteran who served in Germany from 1961 – 1963.  He was proud to be a veteran but was not boastful about his service.  He loved his Lord, his country, and his family.  He also loved fishing, woodwork, gardening, and watching old Western movies.

John was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 1, 2024, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Troy Davis and Buster Patterson officiating.  Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery at Keavy, Kentucky.  Pallbearers will be Matthew Chumley, Brent Sizemore, Aubra Petrey, Alan Bradshaw, Jeremy Jernigan, and Daniel Prewitt; honorary pallbearers will be Brevyn Chumley and Tommy Helton.

The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 P.M. Friday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street Corbin, KY 40701.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (1-855-448-3997) or the Tunnels to Towers Foundation (1-718-987-1031).

    We are so sorry for your loss. May the Lord bring each of you comfort , strength and peace that only comes from HIM. Til you meet again.
