Ellen Jones Kepner
July 18, 1944 - April 15, 2020
On Wednesday, April 15, 2020, Ellen Jones Kepner passed away at her home in Corbin, KY. She engaged in an admirable two-year fight with lung cancer, showing the strength and resolve that characterized her life.
Born in Corbin on July 18, 1944, she traveled extensively with her family (Chicago, Kansas City, Detroit, and Sumter, SC). She then embarked on a career that kept her on the road, traveling to many cities and states, bringing laughter and her dry sense of humor to all that she worked with. Settling back in Corbin she enjoyed time with her family, her garden, and visits from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William R. and Marie Maddox Jones; brothers, Johnny, Joe, and Larry; sisters, Linda Gaylor, and Betty; and daughter, Debbie Wright. She is survived by her son, Jim (Lea Ann) Wright II; their children Daniel (Allison) Tapp and their daughter Ella, Emilea (Kyle) Richardson, and James Wright III; and her youngest son, David (Cassandra) Wright and their daughter Maisie. Also surviving are Debbie’s daughter Lauren (David) Jones and their children Deborah Rose and Nathaniel; sisters, Hazel (Jimmy) Johnstone, Sandra Willis, Gloria Rollins; and sister-in-law, Julia C. Jones, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and their families.
The family will hold a private online gathering, with a memorial service in Corbin, KY, to be scheduled in the future.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society.
Hart Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
