James Clifton “Cliff” Wells
September 21, 1936 - May 23, 2017James Clifton “Cliff” Wells, 80, of Woodbine passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at UK Hospital. Born September 21, 1936, in Knox County, KY, he was the son of the late Luke Finley Wells and Linda Wells.
He was a U.S. Army veteran. Starting his working career at the youthful age of 16, he worked in heavy highway construction for several companies. He also served as a Knox County deputy sheriff for several years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Partin; infant brother, Jimmy Wells; two sisters: Geneva Terrell and Leora Brock; and brother, Dewey Wells.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Lucille Wells; son, James Michael Wells; four grandchildren: Michael Clifton Wells, Kristina LaDonna Wells and husband Joshua Skidmore, Jeffery Charlie Partin and wife Jessica, Kimberly Kayla Nicole Quinlan and husband Jeffery Ryan Quinlan; five great grandchildren: Addy Lou Quinlan, Kimberly Elizabeth Quinlan, Jeremiah Michael Skidmore, Gabriella Kristine Skidmore, and Titus Charles Partin; son-in-law, Jeff Partin; and three sisters: Elva Jarvis, Thelma Brock, and Zelma Croley and husband Harry L. Croley. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and numerous friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 26, 2017, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Scott Williams officiating. Entombment will follow at Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Lily. Full military honors will be conducted by the D.A.V. Chapter 165 Jack Welch Lodge McKee, KY.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 P.M. Thursday at Hart Funeral Home located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
