James F. Barton, 86, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021, at Baptist Health Corbin. Born October 12, 1934, he was the son of the late Charles and Artie Barton.
A kind, hardworking man, James was loved by everyone who knew him.
In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Barton; granddaughter, Crystal Gabbard Hester; and brother, Rex Barton.
He leaves behind four daughters: Barbara Gabbard (Ira Jake), Alice Faye Sproles, Marilyn Ledford (Terry), and Debbie Michael (Brett); two sons: James Roy Barton (Darlena) and Bill Barton (Lisa); 10 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, a private graveside service will be held at Carter Cemetery with Rick Gibson officiating.
Hart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
