Leonard David Johnson

Leonard David Johnson, age 72, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday morning, September 24, 2025. Born on October 3, 1952, in Knox County, he was the son of the late Foyster and Ethel (Gibbs) Johnson.

David faithfully served as pastor of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Rockholds, Kentucky. He previously worked at National Standard Woven Products, American Greeting Card, and CSX Railroad.  He found joy being outdoors, especially through his love of fishing and hunting. He genuinely loved people and treasured every moment shared with his family and friends.

On May 26, 1972, David married Kathleen Smith, and together they were blessed with one daughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Foyster and Ethel Johnson; siblings, Robert Glen Johnson and Darlene Cupp; and brothers-in-law: George Rapier, JD Smith, Fred Smith Jr., Frank C. Smith, and James A. Smith.

David is survived by his cherished wife of 53 years, Kathleen Johnson, with whom he built a life of faith and family; daughter, Kim Bullard and husband David; grandchildren: Tyler Johnson and girlfriend Tiffany Jordan, Laura Everly and boyfriend AJ Brooks, Josh Bullard and wife Katharine, Jeremy Bullard, and Zack Bullard and wife Chelsea; and seven great-grandchildren: Laila Bullard, Adreanna Johnson, Kellan Johnson, Jakob Bullard, Clarke Bullard, Addie Johnson, and Maggie Bullard.

He is also survived by his siblings: Wanda Smith and husband Criss, Fayetta Rapier, Phyllis Jackson, and Eddie Johnson and wife Linda; sisters-in-law: Shirley Smith, Marie Smith, and Elizabeth Smith; brother-in-law: Jerry Cupp; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who mourn his passing.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Johnson, Josh Bullard, Zack Bullard, AJ Brooks, Wade Smith, Chad Smith, Justin Johnson, and Billy Ray Smith II. Honorary Pallbearers include his fellow preaching brethren, the men of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, and his closest friends and trading buddies.

David was a member of the Cumberland Valley 751 F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge, which will perform the Masonic Rites Ceremony at 1:30 P.M. on Monday before the funeral.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, September 29, 2025, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Siler, Rev. Keaton Smith, and Rev. Daniel Alsip officiating.    Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 28 and from 12:00 P.M. until the funeral on Monday, September 29 at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.

    Worked with him at National Standard great guy. Last time I ran in to David was at a prayer walk at LCHS. He Loved his Lord🙏🏻🥰

    Only knew him the last three years when I met him at Pleasant Grove Church but I looked up to him like he was my dad
