Leonard Smith

Leonard Smith, 70, of West Harrison, IN, passed away Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014.

Born February 9, 1944, in Sextons Creek, KY, he was the son of the late Hardin Smith and Myrtle Smith O-Brien.  

In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by one sister, Eulene Smith; two daughters: Penny and Patricia Smith; and one grandson, Caleb Smith.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Rita Smith; two sons: Leonard Earl Smith of West Harrison, IN, and Douglas Smith (Tracy Smith) of West Harrison, IN; five grandchildren: Dustin Smith (Shyla Smith) of Laurel, IN, Tara Smith (William Westerfield) of West Harrison, IN, Shelby Smith of Cordele, GA, Aaron Bergin of Lawrenceburg, IN, and Jordan Smith of West Harrison, IN; six brothers and three sisters: Eugene (Maryruth) Smith of West Harrison, IN, Earl (Debbie) Smith of Manchester, KY, Ray (Marlene) Smith of Liberty, IN, Alfred (Judy) Smith of Gray, KY, Ernie Smith of Corbin, KY, Hayden Smith of Hamilton, OH, Vada (Bill) Cummings of Aurora, IN, Christine (Leland) Lockhart of Corbin, KY, and Mary Gladys Park of Corbin, KY.  He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, including two who were special caregivers: Dwight Engle and Jeffery Lockhart, and cousins, as well as other relatives and numerous friends, to mourn his passing. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Eldon Davis, Jr., and Dwight Engle officiating.  Burial will follow in Candle Ridge Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 P.M. Wednesday and continue until the funeral hour at 2:00 P.M. at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
