Mary Margaret Downing
October 24, 1926 - May 25, 2016Mary Margaret Downing, 89, of Corbin went home to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, May 25, 2016.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Corbin. She was retired from Corbin Deposit Bank where she had been a long-time employee.
Born October 24, 1926, in Harrison County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Graves and Ruby Carroll.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Downing; a son, John Downing III; and a brother, Oliver Carroll.
She is survived by her son, Steven Downing and wife Kathy; three grandsons: Josh and wife Brooke, Zack and wife Jordan, and Alex Downing; two great granddaughters: Leah Braelyn and Avery Kate Downing; two sisters: Bette Marshall and Beverly Miller; and one brother: Charlie Carroll, as well as several nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 28, 2016, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Allen Bonnell officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Saturday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
