Shirley Jean Green
February 16, 1942 - September 4, 2023Shirley Jean Green, 81, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Corbin, Kentucky. Born February 16, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Otis L. and Cleo Campbell.
In addition to her father and mother, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Christopher Green, and her twin sister, Sharon D. Flores.
Shirley Jean was a member of the Corbin Trinity Methodist Church. All of her interests were centered around the church. Over the years, she served the congregation faithfully in numerous roles: Bible school teacher, secretary/treasurer of the women’s organization; food delivery to the sick members, visiting the sick at their homes, decorating the sanctuary for special occasions, card and flower ministry, and custodian when needed.
Shirley Jean was also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
She leaves behind her son, Bobby Green and wife Rachel; two grandchildren: Misty Green and Dallas Green; brother, Denzel Ray Campbell; brother, Daswell Campbell and wife Carol; special friend: Ruth Knuckles; nieces, nephews, and friends, to mourn her passing.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 8, 2023, at Pine Hill Cemetery in Corbin with Jeff Frost officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 88 Honor Guard.
