Velma Kay Rains
March 30, 1953 - July 9. 2024Velma Kay Rains, 71, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Corbin Health and Rehabilitation Center in Corbin, Kentucky. Born March 30, 1953, in Corbin, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Henry Carl Hinkle and Nannie Cotton Hinkle.
Velma was a long-time member of Dorthae Pentecostal Church.
In addition to her father and mother, Velma was preceded in death by her two brothers: Tommy Hinkle and Ed Hinkle; sister-in-law, Irene Hinkle; and brother-in-law, Bill Barnhill.
She is survived by her husband, Irvin Rains; two sons: Carl Daniel Blakley (Crystal) and Ethan Lee Rains (Christina); two granddaughters: Catherine Blakley and Emily Blakley; two grandsons: Tyler Davis and Christopher McKee; two sisters: Muriel Barnhill and Carol Forbes; and sister-in-law, Susan Hinkle, as well as several nieces, a nephew, and friends who mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 16, 2024, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Billy Evans officiating. Burial will follow in McFarland Cemetery in Corbin with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 P.M. Tuesday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street Corbin, KY 40701.
