Vickie Elaine Killion
March 26, 1958 - November 4, 2024With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Vickie Elaine Killion, who left this world on November 4, 2024, surrounded by loved ones after a brave battle with cancer.
Born on March 26th, 1958, to HC and Kathleen Smith, Vickie dedicated her life to her faith, her family, and her passion for education. A retired teacher from Corbin Independent School System, she inspired countless students, always pushing them to achieve their fullest potential. Her influence extended beyond the classroom, where she nurtured young minds at her church, teaching Sunday school and preparing meals with love for her class each week.
Vickie was also a gifted artist, writing poetry, painting, and bringing gospel music to life as an accomplished pianist and singer. She shared her faith and spirit through every song she played, uplifting those around her. Her vibrant life was filled with the joy of gardening, and she cherished her beloved dogs, especially her dear companion, Sophie. She will be remembered for her intelligence—having graduated valedictorian and earning multiple degrees—her joyful laughter, and her compassionate heart.
Vickie leaves behind her mother, Kathleen Smith; sister, Tammy Carter (Bruce); sons: Deacon Bramlett (Lindsey) and Victor Bramlett (Katrina); and her cherished grandchildren: Alice, Archie, Caroline, and Jocelynn.
She was preceded in death by her father, HC Smith, and her beloved husband, Al Killion.
Visitation will be held at Hart Funeral Home on November 8 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., and on November 9 at 10:00 A.M. at Poplar Grove Baptist Church, with a service to follow at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro, Kentucky, next to Al.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the UK Markey Cancer Foundation in her honor.
Vickie’s love, wisdom, artistry, and kindness have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. We invite everyone to join us in remembering and celebrating her extraordinary life.
