Billy Gene Simpson, Sr., 76, of Corbin passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017. Born August 8, 1940, in Harlan County, he was the son of the late Orville Simpson and Willie Mae Saylor Simpson.
He was a U.S. Army veteran who served his country in the Vietnam War.
In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Gray Simpson, and sister, Idava Simpson Owens.
He leaves behind one daughter: Genna May and husband Terry of Lily; two sons: Billy G. Simpson, Jr., and wife Christina of Woodbine and Christopher Scott Simpson, Sr., and wife Laura of Corbin; nine grandchildren: Tabatha Jackson, Shane Jackson, Kaci Hampton, Daryl Earls, Michael Simpson, Ethan Simpson, Brayden Simpson, Tiana Simpson Sprinkles, and Christopher Simpson, Jr.; 16 great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter, as well as other relatives and numerous friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 4, 2017, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian West and Pastor Casey Hampton officiating. Burial will follow in McFarland Cemetery at Woodbine with military rites conducted by the D.A.V. Chapter 158.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 P.M. Thursday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
