Alfred Monroe Killion

March 11, 1945 - June 1, 2021

Alfred M. Killion (Big) left this world for his heavenly home Tuesday, June 1, 2021. He was surrounded by his wife and loving furry friend at home.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Brenda Sinkhorn Killion; his parents, Charlie and Faye Killion: a baby brother, Donnie Killion; twin brother, Alvin D. (Little) Killion; and brothers, Chris Killion and Palmer Killion.

Al was a member of the 82nd Airborne of the Army. He was retired from Vulcan Materials, finishing a 39-year career building concrete plants across the country. Al was an avid outdoorsman, including fishing, camping, and hunting. He loved Poplar Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member and served as a trustee and member of the security team. He was a member of the Keavy D.A.V. He was a loving, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He leaves behind his wife, Vickie E. Killion; daughter, Lisa Weaver (Jon); granddaughter, Samantha Meranta (Brett); step-sons, Victor Bramlett (Katrina) and Deacon Bramlett (Lindsey); great-grandchildren: Sydney, Hayden, and Chayse Meranta; step-grandchildren: Callie Johnson, Jocelynn Johnson, and Alice Bramlett; brothers: Ed Killion, Willard Killion, and Charles (Bug) Killion; sisters: Dorothy Douglas, Cleo Hail, and Naomi Brock; mother-in-law, Kathleen Smith; and furry friend, Sophie, as well as a host of other friends and loved ones.
Visitation will be at Poplar Grove Baptist Church on Friday, June 4, 2021, from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 P.M. Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton and Rev. Victor Bramlett will be officiating.

Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro, Kentucky, with military rites by the D.A.V. Chapter 158. Pallbearers will be Jon Weaver, Brett Meranta, and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the Monday Morning Men’s Bible Study Group at Poplar Grove Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Keavy D.A.V or Bluegrass Navigators (Hospice).
