Billy “Bill” Joe Brock, 86, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024, peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was the son of the late Arthur and Marie Walker Brock, born on February 7, 1938, in Corbin, Kentucky.

Billy, known to many as “Bill,” served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired Engineer with CSX Railroad, a former Laurel County Magistrate for District 2, and Co-founder and Owner of Tri-County Wood Preserving. In addition to his successful career, Bill was a lifelong farmer.

A man of many interests, Bill was a member of the C.D. Ward Masonic Lodge, a member of the Laurel County Shriners, and a Board Member of the Laurel County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed fishing, bird hunting, playing pool with his friends, and hosting many cookouts as well as family reunions. Bill’s most important pastime was spending time with his wonderful grandchildren.

Bill leaves behind his loving wife of over 58 years, Phyllis Jean Brock; son, Billy Brock; son, Shane Brock; son, Anthony Todd Brock and wife Lori Beth; grandchildren: Taylor, Morgan, Emma, Spencer, Levi, Lucas, Anna Reese, and Brileigh; and two great-grandchildren: Gunner and Ramsey. He is also survived by three sisters: Jeanette, Phoebe (Johnny Jervis), and Glenda (Jerry Woods); and one brother-in-law, Ronnie Lewis.

In addition to his father and mother, Bill was preceded in death by in-laws, John and Addie Hubbard Black; brother, James Brock; sister, Jane Rose Brock Lewis; granddaughter, Addie Brock; and great-grandchild, Danika Johnson.

We will be forever indebted to his special in-home caregivers. Our family could not have made it through these past months without your compassion, care, and support.

Funeral Services for Bill Brock will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Scott Carroll and Brent Carroll officiating.  Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery in Corbin, Kentucky, with Spencer Brock, Levi Brock, Lucas Brock, Keith Jervis, Chad Woods, and Terry Campbell serving as pallbearers.   Honorary Pallbearers will be all board members of the Laurel County Farm Bureau and Laurel County Shriners.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 31, 2024, from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and after 10:00 A.M. Saturday until the funeral hour at 12:00 P.M. in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel.  A Masonic service will be conducted at 8:30 P.M. Friday.

The family of Bill “Billy” Joe Brock mourns the loss of a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and esteemed member of the community. Bill’s dedication to his country through his service in the U.S. Army, his accomplished career as a railroad engineer and public service, and his passion for farming and community involvement will always be remembered and celebrated.

May he rest in peace.

    I met him one time to let him know a cow of his was out of fence. I truly think he had a love for his cattle. God rest your soul. Paul Bunch
