Billy M. Karr, 74, of Lily passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021, at Baptist Health Corbin. Born December 24, 1946, he was the son of the late Ledford and Ada M. Karr.

In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Magdalene Lewis Karr; infant daughter, Mary Helena Fay Karr; son, William Homer Karr; great grandson, Waylon Wesley Riggs; sister, Brenda Fay Riggs; and brother, Donald Ray Karr.

Billy was a member of Lily Church of Christ. He loved Gospel preaching and Gospel music and singing. Over the years, Billy preached the Word at Lily Church of Christ, Woodbine Christian Church, and West Corbin Christian Church. He also helped establish a Church of Christ congregation in Jackson County. In addition to his love for God’s Word, Billy loved his family and was devoted to their well-being, always concerned about them above his own health issues. Then, also, he served his community; his ultimate service was volunteering many years as chief of the Lily Fire Department.

He leaves behind his daughter, Donna Gail Medley (Lionel); son, John Wesley Karr (Melissa); son, Ronnie Merle Karr; grandchildren: Matthew Wayne Riggs, Rachael Beth Riggs, Kayla Gail Riggs, William Tyler Ray Karr; and Bailey Myranna Karr; great grandchildren: Wyatt, Landon, Gracie, Bella, Austin, River Rose, Billy, Shay, Maggie, Jaylen, Levi, Brentley, Grayson, Brianna, Abel, and Aubriella; brother, Dennis Wayne Karr (Greta); brother, Kermit Dean Karr (Kathy); sister, Wanda Kay Parsons (Tommy); brother, David Dillard Karr (Rena); and aunt, Easter Eaton. He is also survived by many other relatives and numerous friends. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 10, 2021, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Daniel Sears and Dennis Karr officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 P.M. Wednesday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.

    We were so sorry to hear of Billy’s passing. He was a beloved cousin and I know he is rejoicing, singing and praising God in Heaven with the family that went before him. No more pain and suffering! Love to all our Karr kin.
