Charlene Thomson, age 69, passed away on January 16, 2026, at Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin, Kentucky. She was born in Bell County, the daughter of Delbert and Lexlene Grubb.
Charlene married her spouse Lester of 52 years on March 31, 1972. She was a devoted wife and mother. She had the honor of being a grandmother and a great-grandmother. Her great-grandchildren brought her tremendous joy. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Charlene was a loving, gentle, and kindhearted person. She was always available to listen and comfort those she loved. She enjoyed the simple things in life like family gatherings, barbeques, and shopping trips with the girls. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.
She leaves behind her husband Lester Thompson of Corbin KY; grandchildren: Sarah Phipps and husband Dale (DJ) Phipps of Corbin KY, and Ronnie Thompson, Jr., of Williamsburg KY; great-grandchildren: Roree Nicole Valdean Phipps, Gadtson Marshal Phipps, Lailee Elizabeth Thompson, and Kailey Renee Phipps; and one brother, Lester Grubb of Flat Lick KY; plus a host of family and friends to cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Thompson; her parents, Delbert and Lexlene Grubb; her brother, Harold Grubb; and her granddaughter, Rickie Leeann Thompson.
Visitation will be held from 6 – 8:00 P.M. Monday, January 19, 2026, at Hart Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 20, 2026, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Todd Parker Officiating.
Burial will follow at McHargue Cemetery in Lily, KY, with Dale Phipps, Gadtson Phipps, Ronnie Thompson, Jr., Lester Grubb, Lenard Thompson, Timothy Brock, John Jarvis, and Gary Hughes serving as pallbearers.
Reception will be held at Restoration Church in Lily, KY, following the interment.
