Darlene Fields Stidham

Darlene Fields Stidham

March 9, 1954 - May 26, 2025

Darlene Fields Stidham, 71, passed away Monday, May 26, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.  Born March 9, 1954, in Benham, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Enos and Margaret (Pennington) Fields.

Darlene was a devoted mother, grandmother, and partner whose greatest joy came from spending time with her family—especially her beloved grandchildren and her dear companion, Bo. She never hesitated to share how proud she was of each and every one of them, and her love for them was as steady as it was strong.

She had a gift for finding joy in the simple things: a good thrift store find, a fun game on her iPad, or a lively round of cards around the kitchen table. Darlene was also a wonderful cook who poured love into every dish she made, taking delight in feeding the people she loved and watching them enjoy her food. Her storytelling—colorful, warm, and often hilarious—was truly one of a kind, and her laughter could light up a room.

Over the years, Darlene wore many hats with pride and dedication. She worked as a homemaker, a school cook, a grocery deli manager, and eventually retired as a bank bookkeeper. In every role, she brought care, strength, and a quiet resilience that touched the lives of many.

Her love, laughter, and unwavering pride in her family will be remembered always.

Darlene is survived by her three sons: Brian Stidham (Mary), Brandon Stidham (Shelly Roseman), and Byron Stidham (Jessie Summerlot); grandchildren: Nolan and Caisen Stidham, Nick and Luke Stidham, Blake and Emma Summerlot and her fur baby, Dixie; sisters: Geraldine Ellis (Kevin) and  Thelma Jean Higgins (Rufus);

nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; and other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, May 29, 2025, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Billy Burke officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 – 3 P.M. Thursday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street Corbin, Kentucky 40701.

The family extends a special thank-you to the Bluegrass Care Hospice Navigators.
