Darva Dianne Gibbs

Darva Dianne Gibbs, 68, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023.  She was born May 14, 1955, in Corbin.

Darva was a member of Bacon Creek Baptist Church.  She truly enjoyed playing the piano, and she served as the church pianist.  She was also a member of Bryant Chapter # 20 Order of Eastern Star.

She was a retired school teacher with the Corbin Independent School District.  Most of her career was spent at South Ward Elementary School.

Darva was preceded in death by her husband, John Bill Gibbs, and her mother, Sue Wells.

She leaves behind her father, Darvin Wells, along with several cousins, other relatives, friends, and her church family to mourn her passing.

Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Friday, December 8, 2023, at Bacon Creek Baptist Church in Corbin with Tim Lowe officiating.  Burial will follow in Corinth Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12 – 1 P.M. Friday at the church.

Hart Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

    One of the best teachers that I had ever taught with. Her students loved her dearly. Heaven has been blessed by her presence.

    Our condolences to the family. She tutored our boys when they were younger and we just loved her. She was so good to them.

    Darva was a beautiful person, inside and out. I loved her ever constant smile and sparkling eyes.

    To Darva’s family. I went to school with Darva and her husband John Bill they loved Christ and each other . I’’m not sad but find peace at the thought that she and John Bill are reunited together in heaven with God and his angels .

    I went to high school with Darva and John Bill they loved each other and they loved Christ .
    I take comfort in knowing that Darva and John Bill are now reunited with each other in heaven . Today I had Darva and John Bill on my mind and I looked up in the sky and saw two clouds shaped as crosses . It brought me peace knowing they are now together forever..

    Darva was my tutor in math in second grade at Central she is the reason I’m better at math she was so sweet and understanding and good to me in school . I will never forget the kindness and patience she showed me .
    She was a beautiful woman inside and out .
    She is being rewarded for her kindness and patience to people on earth . She is reunited with her true love John Bill and with our savior in heaven

    Darva was a dedicated teacher. She always had a caring heart of love and concern for her students, as well as others.
