George D. Fisher
April 2, 1947 - January 3, 2016George D. Fisher, 68, of Corbin departed this life on Sunday, January 3, 2016. He was born on April 2, 1947, in Barbourville, KY, to the late Jess T. Fisher and Leona Payne Fisher. A graduate of Union College and an avid UK basketball fan, he was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in London, KY.
In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Carolyn Fisher from Barbourville, and Barbara Lacefield from Franklin, IN; one brother: Cornelius Fisher, and one brother-in-law: Wayne Lockard from NC.
He is survived by his wife, June Bacelieri Fisher; two step-children: Paul Johnson of London and Jennifer Clark (Wes) of Frankfort, KY; four step-grandchidren: Daniel and Aaron Johnson of Corbin, and Courteney and Garrett Clark of Frankfort. He is also survived by two brothers: Jerry Fisher (Allyce) and Eugene Fisher (Francis), both of Indianapolis, IN; four sisters: Jessie Morgan of Shelby Township, MI, Maude Lockard of Livonia, MI, Dorothy Kizer (Jim) of Indianapolis, IN; and Brenda Stivale (Lee) of Kennett Square, PA.
After 25 years of service, George retired from Cumberland River Comprehensive Care. Afterward he stayed busy with woodworking projects, installing security systems, gardening, and designing props for the Cumberland Valley Dance Club and Vacation Bible School.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 6, 2016, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Denvil Davis and Rev. Bobby Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Hutchinson Cemetery at Parrott Branch in Barbourville.
The family of George Fisher will receive friends from 6 – 9 P.M. Tuesday at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1011 Master in Corbin.
