March 4, 1946 - June 25, 2023Harold Gene Black was born in Corbin, Kentucky, on March 4, 1946. He passed away at his home in Keavy, Kentucky, on June 25, 2023. He was 77 years old.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; parents, Morris and Pauline Black; grandparents, Winfield and Flora Cassidy, and Oakley and Nora Black.
He leaves behind his sister, Shelia Tankersley and husband Jim; niece, Andrea Baker and husband Travis; nephew, Jared Tankersley and wife Robi; step-nephew, Jimmy Tankersley; great-niece, Taylor Stack and husband Scotty; great-nephew, Tanner Baker; and step-great-niece, Gracie Tankersley; three uncles: Foyster Cassidy and wife Vida of Keavy, Rondal Cassidy and wife Margaret of Keavy, and Guy Black of London; aunt, Pat Cox of Kokomo, Indiana, as well as several cousins and friends and his special caretakers, Anita Kelley and William Bingham.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Travis Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens at Lily, Kentucky, with Tanner Baker, Foyster Cassidy, Billy Bingham, Dean Harville, Elmer Ison, Scotty Stack, Virgil Boggs, and Wes Harville serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be conducted by the D.A.V. Chapter 158.
The family will receive friends from 11 – 2 P.M. Thursday at Hart Funeral Home 1011 Master Street Corbin, Kentucky 40701.
