Hazel Ruth Karr, 86, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023, at her home in Keavy, Kentucky.  Born July 28, 1937, in Jellico, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Alta Rains.

In addition to her father and mother, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Karr, and brother, Carlos Rains.

She leaves behind her daughter, Debbie Estep and husband, Lester; daughter, Janet Sawyers and husband Nick; two grandchildren: Leslie Tincher and Fred Estep; 10 great-grandchildren: Reece Tincher, Gavin Tincher, Sierra Knuckles, Cassidy Estep, Hayley Helton, Presley Estep, Dylan Estep, Hailey Anders, Taylor Anders, and Waylon Prewitt; and five great-great grandchildren: Jaxon Knuckles, Addalynn Knuckles, Jathan Alsip, Macie Helton, and Ezekiel Helton.

Hazel and her husband Fred were married for 48 years.  Over the years, they enjoyed camping and Bluegrass festivals.

Hazel was retired from Rand-McNally in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she had worked for more than 30 years.  Her favorite pastimes were crocheting and word search puzzles.  She also enjoyed Bingo and casinos.  Lately, she enjoyed sitting in her recliner and watching game shows.  Most of all, Hazel loved her family and enjoyed spending time with the little ones.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 1, 2024, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Delmon Sizemore officiating.  Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery with Nick Sawyers, Lester Estep, Gavin Tincher, Craig Tincher, Joe Knuckles, and Fred Estep serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 P.M. Monday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street Corbin, KY 40701.
