Hurley Wilson, 92, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2024, at his home.  Born March 4, 1932, in Saylor (Leslie County), Kentucky, he was the son of the late Robert “Bob” and Della M. Wilson.

In addition to his father and mother, Hurley was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bess Tolliver Wilson, on March 22, 2024.  Married for 68 years, Hurley and Bess were united in marriage on October 29, 1955.  He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Eli Wilson, Elza Wilson, and Harold “Narvis” Wilson, and by four sisters: Viola Cooper, Frances Bingham, Myrtle Wilson, and Barbara Pond.

Hurley leaves behind his sister, Mary Jane Daniels, and 30 nieces and nephews, to mourn his passing.

Hurley was a hard worker who was in the work force for 44 years, before retiring in 1992.  In his early years, he worked in timber, the coal mines and carpentry/wood work.  He later worked at GM Motors and Western Electric; he was a body fender and boilermaker/welder for 30 years. He was a member of the #1 Boilermaker Union in Chicago, Illinois.

Hurley made the important decision to accept Jesus Christ in 1954.  He also became a Master Mason in 1966.  Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing, growing vegetables, and helping people in need.

Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 P.M. Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Hart Funeral Home.  A graveside service will follow at Noon on Wednesday, November 20 at Barbourville Cemetery, with Ralph Halcomb officiating.  Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family extends special gratitude to Hurley’s personal caregivers and to the Bluegrass Care Navigators.
