James Jones
June 19, 1939 - August 25, 2021James Jones, 82, of Lily passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at St. Joseph Hospital in London, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Cecil and Hattie Jones.
James attended Fariston Christian Church. He was a proud Bluegrass musician who played many festivals over the years in his group called James Jones and the Bluegrass Travelers. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and watching Westerns like “Gunsmoke” and “Bonanza.”
In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by his wife Annie Jones; his daughter, Carrie Evans; and his brother, Arnold Jones.
He leaves behind three grandchildren: Kayla Jarvis and husband James, Jessica Maxey and husband Daniel, and Austin Evans and wife Cara; three great grandchildren: Benjamin Jarvis, Maggie Jarvis, and Lily Jarvis; and son-in-law, Elmer Evans. He is also survived by other relatives and many friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, August 28, 2021, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Helton officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Bryant, Jamie Fields, Daniel Maxey, Matthew Kimsey, Stuart Hawk, and James Jarvis.
The family will receive friends from 10 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
