Jimmy Lee Godsey

Jimmy L. Godsey, 88, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024.  Born June 26, 1936, he was the son of the late Jeremy and Eva Godsey.

Jimmy was an outdoorsman who especially enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He also found pleasure in collecting guns and cars.  However, his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his father and mother, Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Shelah Godsey; daughter, Debra Grega; daughter, Renee Hickey; son, Jimmy Wayne Godsey; three grandchildren: Barry Hickey, Sean Grega, and Madison Nose; and 13 siblings: Roy, Clifford, Buddy, Stanley, Edward, Kenneth, Ova, Otis, Orville, Everett, Hazel, Lois, and Lonnie.

He leaves behind his daughter, Margaret Tuttle and husband Claude of Big Clifty, Kentucky daughter, Linda Long and husband Greg of Corbin, Kentucky; son, Aaron Godsey and wife Abby of Mobile, Alabama; son, Jimmy Godsey, Jr., of Mobile, Alabama; grandchildren: Mike Tuttle and wife Erin, Brian Tuttle, Donna Topf; Joey Hickey and wife Samantha, Jamey Hickey, Tiffany Grega, Sara Hamlin and husband Josh, Kylie Lewis and husband Greg, Victoria Herron and husband Derick, Chris Smith and wife Whitney, Jesslyn Kelsey and husband Jordan, Rachel Long, Savannah Godsey, Haley Owens, and Debra Sue McVey; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby Reeves of Florence, Kentucky, and a special niece, Jeannie Griess.  He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

Jimmy was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 11, 2024, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Hisle officiating..  Burial will follow in Corinth Cemetery with family members serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 P.M. Wednesday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street Corbin, KY 40701.
