John L Gross
May 28, 1939 - May 17, 2022John L Gross, age 82, departed this life for his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Harlan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late W.O. “Bill” and Rosey Gross.
In addition to his father and mother, John L was preceded in death by his four brothers and four sisters.
In his free time, John enjoyed flea markets, auctions, UK sports, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends.
John L is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janice (McDaniel) Gross; four children: Donald (Selinda) Gross of Corbin, Kentucky, Teresa (Doyle) Brooks of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Martha (Carl) Paul of Rockholds, Kentucky, and Erica (Sean) Gabbard of Keavy, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews that mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 20, 2022, at 2 P.M. in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating ministers will be Bro. James Hodge and Bro. Keith Decker. Burial will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens at Lily, Kentucky, with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 88 Honor Guard; John was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 P.M. Friday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street Corbin, KY 40701.
