Joseph McHargue, 89, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2026.  Born February 14, 1936, he was the son of the late Nathaniel and Grace McHargue.

In addition to his father and mother, Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Louise McHargue; grandson, Joshua Hagle; brother, Edward McHargue; sister, Jeanette McHargue Bryant; brother, George McHargue; sister, Dorothy Ison; sister, Nina Winston; brother, Nathaniel McHargue; brother, Steely McHargue; and brother, Warren Gene McHargue.

He leaves behind his daughter, Brenda McHargue; daughter, Julia Cline (Tom); grandchildren: April Luttrell (Kelly), Christine Williams (Les), Carolyn Mayo (Matt), and Elizabeth Whites; great-grandchildren: Brayden Luttrell, Cayden Luttrell, Iva Grace Luttrell, Alice Williams, Cosmo Williams, Emilia Mayo, Scarlett Mayo, Cloud Whites, Eli Whites, Kameron Whites, and Ellie Whites, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Joseph loved spending time with his family, especially attending activities of his grandchildren.  He also enjoyed attending Baptist Church services when he was able.  Spring was a favorite time for him as he watched the Daffodils bloom.  Walking at Cumberland Falls also pleased him.

He worked for Ford Wayne Assembly in Michigan for 30 ½ years before his retirement.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 16, 2026, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Scott Cannon officiating.  Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 P.M. Monday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.

    I loved hearing him talking about,his work at Ford. His love for my Aunt Louise was undeniable. I couldn’t asked for a better Uncle. We are sad but Heaven gained another Angel. I’ll see you again soon day, tell all my family I love them.

    He was such a wonderful person. I am grateful to know him and for all the holidays we were able to spend with him. He was always smiling and loved watching all the baby’s run and play. He may not have been related by blood. But we were all blessed to be able to call him papaw Joe. He will be missed.
