December 9, 1932 - January 12, 2024

Letty Jean McDonald, 91, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away Friday, January 12, 2024, at Baptist Health Corbin.

Born December 9, 1932, in Corbin, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Gertie Cox.

Jean was a member of First Pentecostal Church of Corbin and enjoyed playing the piano for church services as long as she could attend.  For many years, she worked at a well-known women’s apparel store, Maggie J’s, (which is no longer in business). That work allowed her to frequently enjoy lunch at the former Dixie Restaurant.  Meanwhile, she was always a devoted UK Wildcat basketball fan and a huge fan of cats as pets.

In addition to her father and mother, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby McDonald; grandson, Chris McDonald, brother, Dewey Cox; and two sisters: Etta Scalf and Gladys Strunk.

She leaves behind her son, William Bryan McDonald; son, Barry McDonald and wife Debra; son Garry McDonald; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Jimmie Skinner, to mourn her passing.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 14, 2024, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Josh Hunt officiating.  Burial will follow in McFarland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 P.M. Sunday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street Corbin, KY 40701.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to honor Jean’s love of cats may be made by mail to Forgotten Felines Corbin Animal Clinic 1220 Cumberland Falls Highway Corbin, KY 40701 or online at forgottenfelines40701.org.

My aunt Jean was a very wonderful woman . She could always make you laugh. She will be missed greatly. Knowing she had a relationship with her Heavenly Father gives us peace, knowing she is in a place that’s full of love and joy!
