Michael Lee Buker

Michael Lee Buker

August 2, 1953 - August 6, 2023

Michael Lee Buker, 70, passed away at his residence in Corbin, Kentucky, on Sunday, August 6. 2023.  He was born August 2, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois.

Mike was a member of Parkway Ministries Church of God.  He loved reading and studying his Bible. He was the one his family came to when they had a question about hard-to-understand Scripture.

Also, he enjoyed writing articles and poems. Everyone who knew him knew he was a bargain hunter. He teased that his name was Michael “Clearance” Buker, but his wife lovingly referred to him as her “Old Dog.”  All the clearance items evolved into the hobby of slight hoarding. He collected old coins, diecast cars, and small antique items. He was quite a prankster. He was quick-witted and always had a joke or riddle to frustrate the grandkids.

Mike was preceded in death by his premature grandchildren: Myjestic Cindele Adriana Buker and Sebastian Guardian Seth Buker; his siblings: Diana Lynn Buker Rogers and Robert Wayne Buker; and his father, Donald Buker.

Mike is survived by his wife of 29 years, Cathy Caudill Buker of Corbin, KY; his children: Cynthia Barnes of Georgetown, KY, and Michelle Lee (Mike) Buker-Bowles of London, KY; Direck Shawn (Lindsay) Marlow of Williamsburg, KY, Kylie Michelle (Travis) Devereaux of London, KY, and Clayton Garrett (Taylor) Marlow of London, KY; his grandchildren: Lyjesta Cindele Alina Buker-Bowles, Staylie Caroline Marlow, Nakasha Ariana Makya Buker-Bowles, James (Trey) Barnes, Christian Isaiah Devereaux, Cailyn Barnes, Cade Isaac Devereaux, Ahna Rhyleigh Marlow, Jayden Barnes, Cooper Eli Devereaux, Garrett Price Marlow, Olivia Pearl Marlow and Owen Whitfield Marlow; his mother, Ruth Johnson Buker; siblings: Pamela Richardson, Carole (Jim) Herzog, Patricia Grove, Donald (Norma) Buker, Jr., and Linda (Robin) Goins, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Parkway Ministries Church of God, 510 East Cumberland Gap Parkway Corbin, KY 40701, with David C. Douglas and Mark S. Hisle officiating.
