Raleigh Glenn Gibbs, 68, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2026, at his home. Born December 14, 1957, he was the son of the late Nate and Captola Gibbs.
In addition to his father and mother, Raleigh was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Gibbs; brother, Bill Gibbs and wife Vera; brother, Willard Gibbs; brother, Ernest Gibbs and wife Mary; brother, Enoch Gibbs; sister, Louise Prewitt; brother, O.B. Richardson; and brother, C.W. Richardson and wife Flo.
Raleigh leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Lisa Gibbs; daughter, Stephanie Taylor and husband Jason; grandson, Jaxon Taylor; granddaughter, Sara Taylor; brother, Russell Gibbs and wife Sue; brother, Roy Gibbs and wife Lora; sister, Brenda Gibbs; two sisters-in-law: Sondra Gibbs and Sarah Richardson; and his mother-in-law, Dorris Ellison. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.
Raleigh will be remembered as a man of remarkable resilience, determination, and, especially, love for those close to him. If there was one thing everyone who knew him understood, it was that he could be just a little hardheaded – and that stubborn streak served him well as he faced life’s challenges with grit and perseverance. When he wasn’t supervising farming operations or talking horses, he enjoyed training and hunting with his dogs, as well as catching up with former coworkers from his days as a mechanic at Whayne Supply.
Raleigh was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 24, 2026, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Andrew Darden officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 – 2:00 P.M. Friday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
