Robert Jerome Warfield

Robert Jerome Warfield

October 29, 1943 - June 19, 2025

Robert Jerome Warfield departed his earthly home on June 19, 2025. He was surrounded by love in his final days just as he was his entire life. His devoted family lovingly remained vigilant by his side until his earthly days were over and his heavenly days began. Born in Knox County, Kentucky, on October 29, 1943, he was the son of JL and Arrie Davenport Warfield.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 60 years 8 months and 21 days, Beatrice Thorpe Warfield. He is also survived by his daughter, Jerri Warfield Barbee; son-in-law, Todd Barbee; granddaughter, Arianna Hyler; grandson-in-law, Jake Hyler; grandson, Alexander Barbee; special niece, Fran Jones; and his faithful canine companions, Odin and Sophie.

Jerome was a graduate of Nashville Auto Diesel College, a member of Breathitt Lodge #476 Master Mason, 32nd Degree Mason and Oleika Shriner for over 50 years.  A successful businessman and entrepreneur, Jerome enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved old classic and fast cars and talking to anyone and everyone! His hobbies included anything automotive but especially restoration of old vehicles and autobody work, as well as farming, fishing, and traveling.

Above all else, Jerome was a Christian man who loved God and family. Spending every possible moment with his grandchildren brought him tremendous joy. Jerome lived out his Christian values, constantly helping those around him and never meeting a stranger. To know him was to love him, and he was loved by many.  In his later years, he returned to his family homeplace and cared for his elderly mother until her death. He remained on the family farm until his death, fulfilling his lifelong wish to return there and die there.

As the family continues to honor Jerome’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. He said,” I know where I am going and don’t need to be preached into heaven when I’m gone.”  There will be a private celebration of life at a later date to commemorate his wonderful life.

In lieu of flowers and gifts and in memory of Jerome, please make monetary donations in his name to a charity very near and dear to his heart, the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Extra special thanks are extended to Bluegrass Care Navigators Hospice for their loving hearts, kindness, care, compassion, and guidance during Jerome’s journey to his eternal home.

So many memories have come flooding back from the hottest fires I’ve ever seen anyone. build to the cypress wood table masterpieces he created. What a character he was. So thankful for the privilege of knowing him and his dear family and having them as part of my life and being able to be a part of theirs. Much love and prayers as they grieve this great loss.

I remember when Jerome’s family moved to Breathitt County. We were neighbors on Highland Avenue. He was full of life and took a liking to Miss Bea pretty soon. He was always a great family man and businessman. I know he will be missed. My condolences and most heartfelt sympathies are sent to Bea and Jeri B.

My heart breaks for all of you. Jerome always made me feel very loved and special during my childhood years and I will treasure the many memories of times we all spent together. I am also very grateful I was able to see him and Jerri during his stay at St. Joe’s. He was his old self, feisty and still had that great smile. Bea and Jerri, you will be in my prayers. Losing a husband and a dad is a very difficult thing, especially when someone loved you like he did. Love you all, Gina.

I only got to briefly meet your father Jerri at the Hospital but I do hope he enjoyed his Chick-Filet and hashbrowns/ I know he was very, very special to you and your kind mother/ my condolences and am so grateful for you that you got to spend his last days/ weeks with him at his bedside and his home. Your father did well raising such a bright, beautiful woman as yourself. What a legacy to leave behind from what I hear and see to be such a kind, beautiful gentle soul. May he rest in peace… Much love, Earl…
