Robert Joe Eddie Ledington, 77, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin.  Born February 17, 1949, he was the son of the late Robert Carson Ledington and Anna Lee Shelton Ledington.

Joe was a dedicated public servant to Southeastern Kentucky for almost four decades as an administrator, principal, school teacher, and school bus driver.  While many knew him from his time as an educator, his family and those closest to him knew him best for his sharp mind, keen sense of humor, and his natural ability to problem-solve.  Upon retirement from public service, Joe enjoyed square dancing, collecting antiques, and working on cars.  He also enjoyed attending any sporting event possible where his grandchildren were participating.  Joe had a gift for making people laugh and was known for bringing good times to so many.

Joe’s presence as a father and grandfather, as well as his humor and wisdom, will be deeply missed by so many.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Lara Griffin and husband Chris Griffin; his son, Chris Ledington; and his grandchildren: Camden Ledington, Mason Griffin, Presley Griffin, Annabelle Griffin, and Lenox Griffin.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 8, 2026, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Ronnie Smith officiating.  Following the service, Joe will be laid to rest next to his sister, Kotha “Sissy” Robinson Ledington, in Felts Chapel Cemetery, where they may rest in peace together.  Serving as pallbearers will be Camden Ledington, Chris Griffin, Mason Griffin, Matt Abrams, Derek Baker, and Brent Baker; honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Taylor and Silky Sullivan.

The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 P.M. on Wednesday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.

Joe we were 3 days apart in age. Met you at 14 years old you were my bestie for the next 4 to 5 years. All throughout high school. He would do anything kind for you. Told funny jokes, rode his motorcycle, and loved his blue 64 ford convertible an yellow chevelle. Cruised Corbin with the top down , music playing an hair blowing in the wind to oldies . My grandmother sure loved him, when my relatives came into town he was right there to play cards . Eat popcorn drink Pepsi of course. Went to so many drag races at Bristol. What a special guy he was to us. Gone too soon Joe🥹. We will all miss you . Blessings an prayers for his children and grandchildren an Julia.
