Ted Mitchell, 85, of Corbin passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at his residence. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Corbin.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served his country proudly in the Korean Conflict. A long-time educator, he taught math at Lynn Camp High School before his retirement.
Born July 5, 1930, in Knox County, he was the son of the late John F. and Rachel Mitchell. In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by nine siblings: Ola Mitchell, Arthur Mitchell, Helen Mitchell, Murrell Mitchell, Luster Mitchell, Kenneth Mitchell, Willard Mitchell, Irene Foley, and Roy Mitchell; and by a niece, Nancy Smith.
Survivors include one brother: Bill Mitchell of Williamsburg, KY; 11 nephews: Ray Mitchell and wife Linda, Bob Mitchell and wife Nancy, Willard Mitchell and wife Judy, Murrell Mitchell, Jr., and wife Pat, Carson Mitchell and wife Linda, Nile Mitchell and wife Kyle, Mike Mitchell and wife Elisha, Danny Foley and wife Susan, Drew Mitchell and wife Joy, Kevin Mitchell, and Eric Mitchell; two nieces: Donna Sue McDaniel and husband Bobby and Faye Mitchell and husband Mike, as well as other relatives and numerous friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 31, 2015, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Benjamin Stepp and Carson Mitchell, nephew, officiating. Burial will follow in Hart Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
