Verlois Decker

Verlois Decker, 86, of Keavy, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.  Born March 13, 1936, in Crab Orchard, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Owen and Beatrice Masters.

A beloved mother and grandmother, Lois enjoyed taking care of her family over the years.  Always an excellent cook, Lois made her family’s favorite foods and was especially renowned for her “Decker biscuits,” topped off with her amazing gravy.  She also found pleasure in gardening, yard work, canning, reading books, and working puzzles.

In addition to her father and mother, Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Laymon Dallas Decker; sister, Lorine Coulter; sister, Alma Jean Manning; brother, Gary Wilson Masters; and two infant siblings.

Lois leaves behind her son, Owen Decker and wife Jackie; daughter, Lisha Johnson and husband Anthony; daughter, Elizabeth Decker; four grandchildren: Kristy Turley and husband Patrick, Kelli Johnson, Jeremy Decker and wife Renee, and Greg Johnson; and four great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by several other relatives and many friends.

Lois was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 30, 2022, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Rodney Edwards officiating.  Burial will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens at Lily, Kentucky.

The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 P.M. Wednesday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.

    I was so sorry to hear about aunt Lois. I remember spending time with her in the summers when I was small. I remember her beautiful eyes and smile and how welcoming she would be. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
