Vester Ray “Sonny” Wagner
August 19, 1935 - October 27, 2023Vester Ray “Sonny” Wagner, 88, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away Friday, October 27, 2023. Born August 19, 1935, he was the son of the late Sidney and Viola Wagner.
In addition to his father and mother, Sonny was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Christine Wagner; son, Vester “Ray” Wagner; and four siblings: Herman, Audrey, Thelma, and Anna.
Sonny was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from National Standard Company and later worked for the Knox County School District as a school bus driver. Meanwhile, he was also a skilled carpenter.
He leaves behind his daughter, Elisha Mitchell and husband Mike; son, Mike Wagner and wife Kim; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, and friends also survive him.
Sonny was dearly loved by his family and will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 29, 2023, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Allen Bonnell officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery with Sidney Wagner, Tyler, Wagner, Robert Mitchell, Mike Mitchell, Carson Mitchell, and Breckon Mitchell serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 P.M. Sunday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street Corbin, KY 40701.
