Calvin Curtis “Joe” Walters

Calvin Curtis “Joe” Walters, 86, of Woodbine passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at his home.  Born April 7, 1935, in Knox County, he was the son of the late Charlie and May Walters.

Joe was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.  Over the years, he developed an interest in woodwork and spent a lot of time making various items.  Ironically, he did not play a musical instrument, although he wished he could, but he was able to skillfully carve mandolins and fiddles.  He also enjoyed making knives.

In addition to his father and mother, Joe was preceded in death by an infant brother, Wayne Walters; brother, Johnny Walters; and brother, Bobby Walters.

He leaves behind his loving wife of nearly 62 years, Janis Walters; sister, Mascal Helton; sister, Linda Bunch; sister, Opal Tuttle; sister, Elvyn Jacques; brother, Allen Walters, and brother, Gary Walters.  He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and numerous friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 26, 2021, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Vernon Morris and Andy Cornn officiating.  Burial will follow in Campbell Cemetery at Woodbine.  Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 P.M. Monday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.

    One of the finest men I ever had the pleasure to meet….Joe was always fun also honest and Godfearing…..a true companion to his equally great wife Jan..I am so sorry for this loss…
