David Morgan

January 21, 1938 - March 24, 1921

David Morgan, 83, of Corbin passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at home. Born January 21, 1938, in Leslie County, he was the son of the late Johnny and Sarah Morgan.

David was a member of East London Holiness Church and was also affiliated with Grassey Branch Pentecostal Church. He loved the Lord and used his talents as a singer and musician to tell others about Him. In addition, he thoroughly enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially for coons and squirrels. He was also a cattle farmer and loved dogs, in particular, hunting dogs.

In addition to his father and mother, David was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Lee Whitehead; brother, Fred Morgan; brother, Cornelius Morgan; and son-in-law, Joe Salyers.

He leaves behind his loving wife of nearly 66 years, Fern Morgan; son, Michael Morgan; daughter, Marilyn Salyers; son, Mitchell Morgan (Louetta); son, James David Morgan (DeDee); son, Johnnie Robin Morgan (Angela); daughter Crystal Dawn Hill (Michael); son, Austin Anthony Morgan; grandchildren: Vanessa, Brooke, Joey Ross, Jacob David, John Michael, Jason, Jeremy, Takota, Madison, Johnna, Josh, Gage, John, Sean, and Christian; 18 great grandchildren; brother, Jay C. Morgan (Jean); Richard Morgan (Marlene); sister Phronia Hanselman (Tom); sister, Ruby Gail Crews (David); sister, Laverne Amos; sister, Juanita North (Wilburn); and uncle, Bill Bowling. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and numerous friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 27, 2021, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with James Bowling, Jr., Joe Burns, Jerry McKinley Holland, Jerry Holland, and Michael Hill officiating. Burial will follow in David Morgan Family Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jacob Morgan, John Michael Morgan, Gage Morgan, Austin Morgan, Joshua Morgan, Joey Salyers, Jason Morgan, Christian Hill, and Jonah Morgan.

The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 P.M. Saturday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to either Grassey Branch Holiness Church 420 Grassey Branch Road Essie, KY 40827 or Stinnett Pentecostal Church P.O. Box 102 Essie, KY 40827.

    We are so sorry to hear about David, our thoughts and prayers are with Fern and the family and friends. We really enjoyed coming to visit with them and Aunt Fannie, Uncle Jim and family when I was growing up. We love you all. Myrtle and family. Whick and Betty Gross.
