James A. “Jim” Cobb
April 15, 1935 - August 5, 2014James A. “Jim” Cobb, 79, of Corbin passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at Knox County Hospital. He was a member of First Baptist Church and served as Deacon Emeritus. He was a veteran of the United Army and was retired from CSX Railroad.
Born April 15, 1935, in Keavy, he was the son of the late Andrew and Maude Cobb. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings: Mahala Johnson, Maggie Thomas, Russell Cobb, Bill Cobb, Rosetta Bowers, and John Cobb.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Fredina Cobb; two daughters: Beckie Broerman and husband Eric of Knoxville, TN, and Jennifer Steely and husband Dan of Knoxville, TN; two grandchildren: Jackson Steely and Grace Steely; one sister: Jeanette Pennington of Dayton, OH; several nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and numerous friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Friday, August 8, 2014, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Military rites will be conducted by the D.A.V. Chapter 158.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until the funeral hour at 4:00 P.M. at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to First Baptist Church in Corbin, KY.

I am so very sorry to hear of your sweet Dads passing. He was such a great man and I have alot of great memories growing up and the many sleep overs at your house, he could always make us laugh!

His smile and laughter lingers in everyone’s minds that ever came into contact with him. He gave of himself and asked nothing in return. May God bless and comfort his precious wife, daughters, and all the family members, friends and most certainly his precious little sidekick fursby puppydog, Bullet.

Yesterday was my birthday and growing up, he used to tell me that I was older than him because my birthday was before his. I would get early in the morning and go sit on the swing in his back yard. Just waiting for him to wake up and come out with his coffee. He always let me follow him around in his garden and even let me help feed the bunny. Carried me home a couple times when he saw me get hurt. Just an amazing man. I remember they had quarter machines in their garage with runts in one and gum in the other. I got candy all the time, but never had my own quarters. He and his wife were like the grandparents next door. My brothers and I were the only kids I’m the neighborhood at that time too. However, we never felt lonely. Everyday living next to this family was absolutely amazing. I remember thinking their daughter Jennifer was the most beautiful woman in the world. I will always love you and appreciate the time spent with you, Jim.
