James L. Messer

October 19, 1937 - February 14, 2018

James L. Messer, 80, of Corbin passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at Baptist Health Corbin.  Born October 19, 1937, in Corbin, KY, he was the son of the late Caleb and Josie Messer.

In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Bozzoe and a brother, Wayne Messer.  

He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Velear Messer, whom he married on January 28, 1961; his son, Bobby Messer and wife Teresa of Corbin; granddaughter, Courtney Centers and husband Nathan; grandson, Chris Wyatt; great grandson, Asher Lee Centers; three sisters: Marie Rose and husband Bill of Corbin, Pauline Wells and husband Willard of Corbin, and Imagean Chamness and husband William of Corbin; four brothers: Willard Roy Messer of Georgetown, Hobert Messer and wife Kathy of Springhill, FL, Jack Messer and wife Nita of Lexington, and Ray Messer and wife Ceicle of Melbourne, FL.  He is also survived by other relatives and numerous friends.  He will be deeply grieved and greatly missed. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, February 18, 2018, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Miller and Bro. Doyle Lester officiating.  Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 P.M. Saturday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
