James Michael McNeil, 63, of Corbin passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Baptist Health Corbin.  Born November 20, 1957, in Corbin, Kentucky, he was the son of the late James Eldon McNeil and Margaret McNeil.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Mike was devoted to his family and to his work as co-owner of McNeil Contracting and Holder Garage Door.  He was a proud member of the Whitley County Cattleman’s Association and also served on the board of the Summit in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathy McNeil, and by his mother-in-law, Belva Hummel Goins.

He leaves behind his wife, Sonya Hummel McNeil; son Michael Dustin McNeil of Lexington, Kentucky; son, Eric Tyler McNeil (Deborah) of Nashville, Tennessee; son, Jack Daniel Allen II (Susan) of Corbin; son, Dustin Gregory Allen (Ruth) of Corbin; four grandchildren: Liam Allen, Cooper Allen, Myles McNeil, and Oliver Allen; brother, Bob McNeil (Yulonda) of Corbin; nephew, Jordan McNeil (Megan); niece, Jennifer Coble (Blair); nephew, Waylon Hummel; nephew, Gregory Hummel (Arielle); great niece, Emersyn Coble; great nephew, Easton Hummel; great niece, Carolyn Hummel; brother-in-law, Greg Hummel (Jessie); and special aunt, Rhoda Woods.  He is also survived by several other relatives and numerous friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 18, 2021, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Joe Eaton officiating.  Burial will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens at Lily, Kentucky.  Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Wagoner, Travis Rains, Matt Abrams, Blair Coble, Jordan McNeil, and Brad Smith.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Saturday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.

    We are in shock here at Gatlinburg Summit resort. He will be sorely missed.

    I was saddened to learn of this today. I’ve always held Mike in high regard since working with him a little bit while starting my career in construction. I really liked him and respect him. My condolences to Mike and Eric and Daniel and the rest of the family.

    Please hold on to the wonderful memories of Mike, Sonya he loved you so much and was so proud of the boys and grand children,Please take comfort in knowing when you cross that river he will be there to take your hand lead you to heaven, you are so strong, put from that strength and with God’s help you will make it thur this.
