Larry was such a great man. I worked at the Academy and would see him during in-service training or help him along the way if he needed any training records. Larry was truly “An Officer and a Gentleman”. God Bless his soul.

    Wilma and Joey,
Tommy and I are heartbroken to hear of Larry’s passing. Larry was a steadfast friend to Tommy. The last time Tommy spoke with Larry he asked Larry if he had accepted Christ as his Savior. He told Tommy he had and professed to him his salvation. Based on God’s Word I am certain that we will unite with Larry again in Heaven. Our prayers are for you and Joey and all of those who were fortunate enough to know Larry.

Lt. Lewis was stationed at Post 10 upon my graduation from the KSP Academy in 1982. As a new trooper coming from the Western half of the state, Lt. Lewis wisely took the time to explain to me what to expect from the people of Eastern Kentucky. I enjoyed my short tenure at Post 10 before being transferred to the Narcotics Section. Lt. Lewis was one of only a few persons that I truly trusted during my time in Harlan. I enjoyed playing softball and golf with Lt. Lewis as he was really enjoyable to be around. We as troopers are a family. I wish I could have taken more time to really get to know Lt. Lewis.
    My prayers to his family.

Although we didn’t stay in touch after high school, “Bullman” Larry arrived and became part of our Cumberland High Class of 63 the year Benham was folded into CHS in 1962. Instantly he became one of “us.” A true gentleman, kind and unassuming even though he was pretty darn good at both baseball and football. He was simply a good guy, easy to be around, fun and friendly. I’ve heard from others through the years that he remained that way as you would expect from someone of his character and personality. I extend my condolences to his family and many friends. RIP Larry. Craig Scott, Savannah, GA
