Mary Elizabeth Thomas
January 6, 1932 - November 27, 2020Mary Elizabeth Martin Thomas, 88, born January 6, 1932, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 27, 2020, at her home in London, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel and Reason Martin; brother, Everett Martin; sister-in-law, Fredia Thomas Martin; sister-in-law, Beulah Arlene Martin; and two sons: baby boy Thomas, and Paul Allen Thomas.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 70 ½ years, James L. Ledford Thomas; son, Gary E. Thomas and wife Yvonne; son, Clay A. Thomas and wife Fran; daughter, Donna D. Howell and husband David; daughter, Wanda E. Robinson; brother, Fred C. Martin, Sr.; brother, William H. Martin and wife Stella; brother, Jerry L. Martin and wife Sandra; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
Visitation and funeral services with Shawn Madden and Heath Sherman officiating will be held privately at Hart Funeral Home in accordance with the most recent COVID-19 restrictions. Burial will be in Gray Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association are suggested.

If you wanted to know what a real lady was you didn’t have too look it up in a book because Mary was the real thing. She was a lady . My prayers go too uncle James and the rest of the family. Posted at 10:57h, 01 DecemberMy sincere condolences to all that knew Mary. Mary was the sweetest and most genuine individual that I had ever met. She always went out of her way to make you feel special and welcomed in her home.
I have so many fond memories of my aunt, from the Sunday hot dog events to her special support for my mother. One example of how she was such a giving person was a trip that I took to visit my parents. She had been at my parent’s home all day taking care of my mother. I had just flown out to visit my family and my infant son (at the time) was crying throughout the night. I tried everything to get him to sleep. Mary overheard my son crying, walked into the room and took my son out of my arms. She told me she would take care of everything and for me to get some sleep. This from a woman that already spent hours helping out my mother.
It was quite apparent that Mary loved her husband and her children. She was always sharing pictures and was proud to provide family updates. I will always respect the relationship she had with her brothers. They all held Mary in the highest regard. Mary will always have a special place in my heart and I will never forget her.
